Some college students choose a course of study that will give them specific professional training, such as teaching or engineering. 

Others choose a broader course of study, such as philosophy or history that will give them more general knowledge. 

Which do you think is better?

首先拿到这道题的时候，思考的角度不需要很独特，如果是选择职业课程，就功利性些，可以帮助自己容易找到工作，因为这些技能的需求市场很大，所以学完后能确保有工作。

而如果是选择通识课的话，千万不要说什么陶冶情操等等这种很虚的理由，深入思考的话，其实一些通识课程比如哲学或者是写作课等等，其实是可以帮助我们去有效进行写作或者去论证，这些能力在实际的工作场景中也是可以很好地使用起来。

其次，我们很多时候习惯性一个题目必须是找到2个论点去论证，而在短暂的15秒时间内，其实是很难快速想到的，所以大家可以选择论点+举例的方式去论证。

不过记住，举例子不要太虚，而应该是更具体点，保证论点和论据之间的关系是紧密的。

Personally, I would choose a broader course of study.

This is because philosophy and history courses often require students to communicate their ideas and arguments effectively in written and oral form. These skills are essential in any future career that requires strong communication skills.

For example, during college, I took one philosophy course and one writing course which require a lot of writing assignments and oral presentations. Although it took extra effort to finish those arduous tasks, those practices have finally paid off when I had to do a lot of writing for a marketing campaign, the first job I got after graduation. 

Besides, when I persuaded my manager to accept my proposal, I applied some reasoning skills from philosophy course to make my argument more solid.
